Dale Eugene Shane

Dale Eugene Shane, age 79, of Emporia, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas.

Dale was born on September 6, 1945, in Junction City, Kansas, to Herman George Shane and Lola Marie Heintz Shane.  He grew up on the family farm on Humboldt Creek Road and graduated from Junction City Senior High in 1963.

After a few years of working with his dad on the family farm, Dale moved to Topeka and began his career as a painter, and started his own business, Midwest Painting.  He later moved to Emporia and continued with his painting business.  Dale married Eva Ralph in the early 1970's.  Dale and Eva had one son, Shawn Allen Shane. They later divorced. Dale married Peggy Helums on April 20, 1989.

Dale is survived by his wife, Peggy Helums-Shane of the home; son, Shawn Allen Shane of Emporia; granddaughter, Kassidee Shane, of Branson, Missouri; granddaughter, Kaela Shane of Branson, Missouri; sister, Norma Underwood of Chandler, Arizona; brother, Marvin (D.L.) Shane of Larned, Kansas; sister, Elaine (Craig) Salmans of Larned, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Celebration of Life service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 1, 2025, at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home with Pastor Tegtmeier presiding.  Visitation will be 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the funeral home.  Memorials may be given to Arab Shrine Travel Fund or the Prairie Paws Animal Shelter in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
