Daniel Edwin Pape, 91, of Olpe, Kansas, died Saturday, June 14, 2014 at his home.
  
  
  Daniel was born May 25, 1923 in Rural Alta Vista, Kansas, the son of Henry Walter and Minnie Christina (Kahle) Pape. He was a graduate of Climax High School.
  
  
  Daniel farmed in the Climax and Severy area; worked for the Santa Fe Railroad at Climax; Flint Engineering and Construction at El Dorado; Hughes Construction at Eureka; Custom Forms and Associates at Neodesha, where he also was a private construction contractor; and was a rancher in Olpe. Daniel was a member of the Kansas Livestock Association and the National Cattlemen’s Association.
  
  
  Daniel married Lorene Lucille Coble on December 12, 1944 at the Greenwood County Courthouse. They would have been married 70 years this December. She survives of the home.
  
  
  Other survivors include: sons, Virgil Linn Pape of Olpe, and Larry Daniel Pape and wife Anita of Wellington, Kansas; daughters, Leta Arlene Blevins and husband Jim of Humansville, Missouri and Diana Sue Gile and husband David of Morgantown, West Virginia; twin brother, Dave Pape of Fort Collins, Colorado; brother, Junior Pape of Sedan, Kansas; sister, Henrietta Craig of Augusta, Kansas; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
  
  
  He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Walter Carl Pape; and a granddaughter, Jamie Pape.
  
  
  Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia, Kansas. Interment will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Olpe. Pastor Bob Robison of First Christian Church in Madison, Kansas will be officiating.
