Darla Kay Edwards

Darla Kay Edwards, rural Emporia, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at the Kansas Heart Hospital, Wichita, Kansas.

Darla Kay Goldsberry was born in Emporia, Kansas on December 2, 1940, the daughter of Everett Merle and Goldie Alma (Place) Goldsberry.  Darla married Ronald G. “Zeke” Edwards in Emporia, Kansas on April 15, 1960. After the wedding they ran Ron’s Hardware in Hamilton, Kansas. After moving to Emporia in the early 60’s she sold Avon and custom wigs. Darla began working in Real Estate in 1969. She owned Darla’s One Stop Real Estate and was involved in real estate sales for 47 years.  Her husband died on July 20, 2019.

She is survived by her son; Rick Edwards, Emporia, granddaughters;  Victoria Joyce Edwards and Larisha Kellison, and great-granddaughter; Ariana Ivy Kellison.

She was a member of the Emporia Board of Realtors, having been named Realtor of the Year. She was also a member and longtime office holder in the Women’s Council of Realtors, and had served as State President, National Governor, and Woman of the Year.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 1:30 P.M.  Burial will follow in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery.   The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 P.M.
