Darlene Joan Schaefer, 73, of Lebo died on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Newman Regional Health.
Darlene was born on August 22, 1942 in Emporia, Kansas the daughter of Otis and Helen (Jessee) Brooks. She married Richard Schaefer on April 15, 1962 in Emporia. He survives at the home.
Other survivors include: sons, Eugene Schaefer and wife Jayne of Princeton, Kansas and Brad Schaefer of Ottawa, Kansas; daughters, Jolene Williams of Lebo and Sharlene Anderson and husband David of Lebo; sister Donna Wood of Emporia; grandchildren, Aaron Schaefer and wife Morgan, Kyle Williams, Sara Schaefer, Shelby Williams, Tami Schaefer, Samantha Proehl, and Hannah Proehl.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Barbara Elbe.
Darlene was an LPN at St. Mary’s Hospital in Emporia. Darlene then worked 15 years as an LPN Supervisor at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor before retiring in 2008.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Roberts-Blue- Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia with burial following at the Chicago Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday night from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions to Hand in Hand Hospice or the Emporia Friends of the Zoo can be sent in care to the funeral home.
