David W. Glenn, Emporia, Kansas, passed away at Newman Regional Health, Emporia, on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at the age of 54.
David was born at Emporia on August 17, 1957, the son of C. Leonard and Judith A. (Needels) Glenn. He married Eileen J. Wilson at Emporia on November 19, 1977. She died May 14, 2002.
Surviving family members include: his son, Aaron W. Glenn, Hutchinson, Kansas; daughter, Julie M. Guyer, Emporia; his parents, of Emporia; sister, Debbie L. Rice, Emporia; and grandchildren, Spencer Glenn, Tatum Guyer, and Michael Glenn.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a sister, Karoli Alvarado; and his grandparents, Leonard and Carrie Needels, and Oscar and Della Glenn.
Mr. Glenn had worked for Interstate Brands/Dolly Madison Bakery, Emporia, and later owned and operated Glenn’s Sports Card Shop. He had been retired 13 years.
David enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. As a youth, he was active in Boy Scout Troop #165 at Grace United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. The service will be conducted by Pastor Susan Daniel-Brey, Grace United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening, January 3, 2012 from 7:00 until 8:00 P.M.
A memorial has been established for his grandchildren's college education. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
