David R. Hollond

David R. Hollond, 52, of Emporia, Kansas, died Sunday, January 4, 2015 at his home.

David was born September 18, 1962 in Paola, Kansas, the son of Bill and Billie (Bunyan) Hollond. He was a graduate of Emporia High School and owned and operated Dave’s Pumping Service and Emporia Truck Wash.

He married Kim Turney on May 11, 1985 in Emporia. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include: his mother, Billie Hollond of Emporia; daughters, Taylor Hollond of Emporia, and Lindsey Gose and husband Jamie of Hampton, Georgia; and sisters, Dianne Blary and husband Scott of Mechanicsville, Virginia and Susan Orsted of Aurora, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Hollond.

Dave was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Emporia, and a past member of the National Sporting Clays Association, National Rifle Association, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Ducks Unlimited, and Quail Unlimited. He was the organizer for the Clint Bowyer Youth Hunt, and an avid supporter of Lyon County youth involved in shooting sports and rodeo.

The memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, January 9, 2015 at Emporia Presbyterian Church, West Campus. Pastor Rick Grossenbacher of Calvary Baptist Church will be officiating.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, January 8, 2015, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. Inurnment will be at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery, south of Emporia.
