David Lee House,60, son of Dean Lee (Bud) House and Mary Ellen (Bolz) House, passed away on Tuesday the 6h of September 2016 at Newman’s Regional Hospital in Emporia, Kansas.
Dave was born on the 28th of December 1955 at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Emporia. Dave lived with his family in Reading until 1964 when they moved to Emporia. He attended Reading Grade School, Sacred Heart Elementary School, Lowther Jr High and Emporia Senior High School. He also attended Emporia State University.
David worked for the FW Woolworth Co, at the local Woolworth Department Store until 1974 when he then transferred to the Woolworth Company in Muscatine, IA and returned one year later to open the new local Woolco Department Store until they closed in 1982.
David moved to Topeka to attend college and continued to work in retail until he went to work for Graphic Arts of Topeka, a graphic arts design and typesetting company.
In 1994, David retired from that job due health issues, but continued to work various volunteer jobs for St. Francis Medical Center and other charitable organizations.
David was preceded in death by his grandparents and one brother, Larry Wayne. He is survived by his parents, Dean L. House and Mary E. House of Emporia, and sisters Janice Brooks (Steve) of Mulvane, KS and Genise (John) Robinson of Lansing, KS and one brother, Rod (Jan) House of Portland, OR. He leaves four nieces, Heather, Shannon, Janelle, Jill and two nephews, Will and Zach along with two great nieces and five great nephews. He is also survived by close family and best friend Michael Stark. He leaves behind his beloved pets, Maxine and Cooper.
Cremation has taken place with a private service at a later date at the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Mr. House requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Foundation and can be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
