David Jaggard of Emporia died on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the Flint Hills Care Center surrounded by family. He was 76.

David was born on December 2, 1949, in Emporia, Kansas, the son William and Mary Foster Jaggard. Surviving family members include his daughters Megan (Dan) Joseph of Oregon, Mary (Jason) Sonnakolb and Lacey (Alex) Villegas, both of Emporia, and son Shannon Jaggard of Oregon; grandchildren, Kaylee, Leo, and Dustyn Sonnakolb and Liam and Lilly Villegas.

David enjoyed the outdoors and loved nothing more than a family picnic of fried chicken at the lake or a park. He was very creative and saw the beauty in everything. He loved photography, antiquing and looking for treasures on the beach.

Some of his happiest times were while living in south Texas right on the ocean and he always planned to go back there some day.

David had a one of a kind sense of humor; you can guarantee if he was around you would be smiling.

In David’s later years, he attended Midland Pace day services and made a lot of great friends. He insisted on sitting with the ladies, who loved his thick curly hair.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Cassie Jaggard, son Dustin Crook, brother Tom Jaggard, parents and grandparents.

David’s wishes were to be cremated with a private service at a later date.
