David Hugh Jones, 66, of Emporia, Kansas, died on March 29, 2011 at his home in Emporia.
David was born on January 6, 1945 in Emporia, Kansas, the son of Hugh and Rita Guy Jones. He married Peggy Messinger on June 2, 1967 in Emporia, Kansas. They later divorced.
Surviving family members include: daughters, Julie Harrison of Lebo, Kansas, and Dava Jones of Osage City, Kansas; longtime companion of 28 years Bobbi Fagg of the home; granddaughter, Haley Harrison of Lebo, Kansas; brothers, Steven Jones of Stockton, Missouri, and Kevin Jones of Ottawa, Kansas.
He is preceded in death by: father, Hugh Jones; mother, Rita Matteson; brothers, Ronald Guy, and Dennis Jones; and a sister, Linda Hunter.
For 39 years, David worked in maintenance for IBP/ Tyson in Emporia. He was a member of NRA, and served in the United States Army.
The memorial service will be 11:00 Saturday, April 2, 2011, at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia. The service will be conducted by Pastor Earl Detwiler of Grace United Methodist Church in Emporia. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
