David Francis Schneider of Olpe died on Friday, January 11, 2019 at his home in Olpe. He was 75.
David was born on November 9, 1943 in Olpe, Kansas the son of Firmin and Addie M. Korphage Schneider.
He is survived by his brother, Dale (Deb) Schneider of Lawrence; five sisters, Shirley (Russ) Brown of Wichita, Arlene (Ralph deceased) Redeker, Rose (Larry) Redeker, and Kathy (Mike) Redeker all of Olpe, and Linda (Steve) James of Hiawatha; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Donald Schneider, Duane “Joe” Schneider, and Richard Schneider.
David was a farmer who raised a variety of crops and managed a cattle herd. He enjoyed spending time fishing, golfing, playing cards and hanging out with family and friends. He spent time at the ball park in the summer watching the kids play ball. After selling the family farm, he continued to patrol the streets of Olpe and the country roads to check out the crops. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Alexis Council #1589.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 17, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olpe. The Rosary will be recited Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Cremation will follow with burial later at Maydale Cemetery, south of Olpe. Memorial contributions to St. Joseph Catholic Church may be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
