David Sielert, Emporia, Kansas, passed away at Holiday Resort Care Center on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at the age of 90.
David was born June 24, 1926 in Plymouth, Kansas, the son of Edward David and Eva Elizabeth (Smith) Sielert. He married Donna Jo Brasier in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on February 26, 1952. She survives.
Other surviving family members include sons, David Donald Sielert, and his wife, Sue, Reading, Kansas, Maxwell August Sielert, and his wife, Beth, Gardner, Kansas, and Harold William Sielert, Merriam, Kansas; and a daughter, Jo Elizabeth McClain, and her husband, Fred of Madison, Kansas. There are ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and sisters.
Mr. Sielert was a locksmith at Emporia State University where he worked from 1957 until retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Emporia Masonic Lodge #12, A.F. & A.M. He enjoyed Lyon County History, as well as fishing and canoeing.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 25, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. The service will be conducted by Pastor Christine Potter, First United Methodist Church, Emporia. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 2:00 until 3:30.
