David Joe Wear, 71, Rural Emporia, Kansas, died at his home on Saturday, May 5, 2012.
David was born at Kansas City, Kansas, on March 14, 1941, the son of Clark C. and Marcia Alice (Burnaw) Wear.
Surviving family members include his daughter, Marcia Wear Canaday, Emporia; brothers, Gary Wear and Roger Ramsel, Kansas City, Kansas; and grandchildren, Ruth and Julia Puckett.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Before his retirement, Mr. Wear was an engineer for Santa Fe Railroad (later BNSF). He was an Air Force veteran, leaving the service at the rank of Tech. Sgt.
He was a graduate of Turner High School, Kansas City, Kansas, class of 1959. He was a member of American Legion Post #389, Allen, Kansas, and the United Transportation Union Local #94.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. The service will be conducted by Pastor Bill Wolcott. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, south of Emporia. Military Graveside services will be conducted by Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion and Lowry-Funston Post #1980, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening, May 8, 2012 from 7:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
