Deanna Marie Mumma

Deanna Marie "Dee" Mumma, 65, of Emporia, KS, entered into the pearly gates of Heaven on Monday, February 24, 2025. She was born August 25, 1959, in Olathe, KS, the daughter of John Francis and Margaret I. (Zinn) Bollig.

Dee was born and raised in Olathe. She attended Olathe North High School with the class of 1977. She was forced to grow up very quickly after her mother's passing in 1970. Still a child herself, Dee began to care for her father and little sister. From this time in her life until the end, Dee continued to work hard (harder than anyone I know), take care of business, and love her family.

She has been in Emporia for over 42 years working in several capacities. Most recently she was employed at Dillon's and had worked at Grave's Drug Store until its recent closing. Most notably Dee was the Deli Department Manager at Wal-Mart in Emporia for many years. As her health began to decline she would step down from management, but stayed at Wal-Mart as long as possible. She would earn her 20th anniversary before leaving in 2020. For most of the 1990s, Dee was the manager of the Dollar General Store; first downtown and later on the Westside.

Anyone who knew Dee well enough will know she has a deep love for owls. She has them in every room of her house, on her car, in her car, and in any place she could find a space to put one. This love came from her mother's collection she inherited. She is an avid collector of owls, antique grapes, and other "junk" as her kids call it. Dee was a talented custom wreath maker and has gifted many friends and family. When she was asked what her hobbies or interests were, she simply stated my kids and grandkids.

Deanna married Kenneth Preston Mumma on November 4, 1977, in Ottawa, KS. They celebrated over 47 years of marriage together.

Survivors include her husband, Kenny, of the home; 3 children, Fawn Klock (Rick) of Ft. Worth, Tx, Travis Mumma (Kelsee) of Holton, KS, and Kayla Mumma of Paekhill, OK; a step-daughter, Cheri Mumma of Gardner, KS; 12 grandchildren, Anecia, Kane, Kai, and Addison Klock, Merritt Williams, Maxwell Kealani Robinson, Marinn, Hayes, and Aren Mumma, Austin, Trey, and Kennedi Jackson, and mother-in-law, Margaret Mumma of Garnett, KS.

Dee was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Bollig; 2 sisters, Catherine "Cathy" and Janis Bollig, and father-in-law, Louie Mumma.

Memorial Service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. The family will greet friends in a time of visitation following the service until 3:00 p.m.  Cremation care will take place per Dee's wishes.
