Debra Lynne Blackwell

Debra Lynne Workman Blackwell died on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Flint Hills Care Center in Emporia.  She was 69.

Debra was born on August 30, 1954, in Emporia, Kansas at St. Mary’s Hospital the daughter of Martel “Okie” and Elsie Margaret Stehlik Workman.  She married Richard Blackwell but later divorced.

Surviving family members include her sons Russell Blackwell and Dustin Blackwell of Emporia; sister Terry Workman and her fiancé Arthur Gutierrez of Emporia; Cousin Karon Parker of Ringgold, Georgia.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Debra was a homemaker.  When she was in California she went to school and became a bartender there and after coming home she was a bartender at the La Fontaine Club in Emporia.  She later went to culinary school and would bake bread that she would sell at the Emporia Farmers Market.

Cremation is planned with a private service later with burial at Evergreen Cemetery south of Emporia.  Memorial contributions to Hand in Hand Hospice can be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, Kansas 66801
