Delmar D. Miller, 85, formerly of Olpe, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Holiday Resort, Emporia.
Delmar was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on May 18, 1931, the son of Jack and Edna May (Wilson) Miller. He married Marjorie Lucille Potter in Emporia on July 18, 1954. She died June 12, 2009 in Olpe.
Surviving family members include his daughter, Diana (Gail) Windle, Olpe; son, David (Lindy) Miller, Vasser, Kansas; grandchildren, Michael (Ashley) Windle, Olpe, Mark Windle, Madison, Kansas, Travis (Julie) Miller, Saint Joseph, Missouri, and Christy Miller, Emporia; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Miller was a member of the former Twin Mounds Friends Church, northeast of Olpe, where he had been a song leader and taught Sunday School. Upon the close of the Twin Mound Church, he joined the First Friends Church in Emporia where he had also been a song leader.
Delmar was a founding member and first President of Eagle Creek Saddle Club in rural Olpe. He was an active 4-H volunteer for many years, working with horse and rodeo events. At an earlier age, he had been a member of the Young Farmers and Ranchers Group.
He was a farmer and stockman in the Olpe area, and had been a school bus driver for South Lyon County USD #252 for more than 15 years. He and his wife enjoyed camping, and their many vacation trips together.
Funeral Services will be at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. The service will be conducted by Pastor Charity Sandstrom, First Friends Church, Emporia. Interment will follow in Prairie Grove Cemetery, west of Cottonwood Falls, Kansas.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening, September 7, 2015, from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M.
