Delna I. Thiessen, Emporia, Kansas, died Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor. She was 88.

Delna Irene Tillery was born at the family farm near Turon, Kansas on October 1, 1922, the daughter of Roy and Sylvia (Lamont) Tillery. She married Nick Thiessen at Wichita, Kansas on October 27, 1948. He died February 22, 1999 at Emporia.

Surviving family members include: two daughters, Jan Utech, and her husband, Mike, Emporia, Kansas, and Marsha Bouse, Americus, Kansas; brothers, John Tillery of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, and Jerry Tillery, Great Bend, Kansas; sisters, Lona McIver, Topeka, Kansas, and Ruth Bacon, Dunlap, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Nathan, Cole and Tanner Bowen, Dana William, Robert Cammarn, Valerie Baker, and Eric Cammarn; twelve great-grandchildren, Brayden Bowen, Kayli, Caleb, Daniel and Christopher Rhoades, Jonessa Kelly, Morgan and Halie Baker, Erica, Michael and Nicholas Cammarn; and great-great-grandson, Wyatt Cammarn.

She and her husband farmed near Lake Kahola on the Morris/Chase County line until the early 90’s when she moved to Emporia. She lived several years at Horizon Plaza before moving to Presbyterian Manor just over 2 years ago. Before her marriage, she worked for American Optical in Hutchinson, Kansas. She graduated high school in Preston, Kansas

Mrs. Thiessen was a member of the Strong City United Methodist Church, and had attended the Americus United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women.

Services will be held at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, Saturday afternoon at 2:00, conducted by Pastor Norbert Tegtmeier, Messiah Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Americus Cemetery, Americus, Kansas.
