DeLores C. Johnson, 91, of Emporia, Kansas died Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor.
DeLores was born October 17, 1924 in Cherryvale, Kansas the daughter of Clyde and Jessie (Turner) Blackett. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Southwestern College in 1947. DeLores was a grade school teacher in Winfield, Kansas and Cheney, Kansas and was a substitute teacher in Emporia.
DeLores was a member of the St. Andrew Episcopal Church in Emporia, she was a 30 year member of the St. Andrew Alter Guild, she served on the church Vestry, was a member of the Di chapter of the PEO, Fortune Club and Daughters of the King.
DeLores married Robert S. Johnson in Winfield, Kansas on May 14, 1943. They moved to Emporia in 1954. He died October 10, 2012 in Wichita, Kansas. DeLores is survived by a son Bart Johnson of Emporia, grandchildren Brenda Lee and husband Mark of Emporia and Traylor Johnson and wife Darcy of Emporia, great-grandchildren 3 year old twins Iris and Isabelle Lee, and Nieces Joan Markowitz, Kara Winslow and Denise Winslow. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son Stuart Johnson.
Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 23, 2016 at St. Andrew Episcopal Church in Emporia. Entombment will be in the St. Andrew Columbarium. Rev. Margaret Kay Dagg will be officiating.
