Dennis V. Lewis of Americus died Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Newman Regional Health, Emporia.  He was 72.

Dennis was born on March 20, 1947 in Emporia, Kansas the son of Harding and Lois Koppenhaver Lewis.  He married Beverly K. Albrecht on May 27, 1997 in Miami, Oklahoma.  She survives.

Surviving family members include: wife, Beverly K. Lewis, Americus; step-daughters, Kimberlee (Adam) Smith of Allen, Gwendolyn Kinsey of Emporia; step-grandchildren, Skylar Lamb, Jade Smith, Emily Cyphers, and Vance Kinsey; brother Kirk Lewis of Americus.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother Terry Allen Lewis.

For years Dennis worked for Modine and retired from the Kansas Army National Guard.  In 1968 he served in the United States Navy during Vietnam.  He was a member of Lowry-Funston Post #1980 and Moreland Edmunds Clayton Thompson’ American Legion Post #389, Allen, Kansas.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.  The family will greet family and friends an hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow at the Waverly Cemetery, Waverly with military honors by Lowry-Funston Post #1980 Veterans of Foreign Wars and Ball-McColm Post #5 American Legion.  The family request you dress casual with your favorite sports team for the service.   Memorial contributions to the Junebug Cancer Foundation can be sent in care of the funeral home.
