Dennis Dean Schiesser, 67, Allen, Kansas, passed away at his home on Sunday, July 9, 2017.
Dennis was born July 1, 1950 at Emporia, Kansas, the son of Sydney Le Roy and Maudeen Etta (Sloyer) Schiesser. He married Necla Brown, they later divorced.
He was a graduate of Northern Heights High School, Allen, KS and the Flint Hills Technical College, Emporia. He joined the Army as a photographer and was stationed in Panama during the Vietnam War. He contracted Agent Orange while photographing areas that had been sprayed with the defoliant. Later he worked for Wichita State University until medical problems caused his early retirement.
He was a member of Allen (Kansas) American Legion Post #389 and the Wichita, KS AmVets Post.
Surviving family members include his two brothers; his twin, Terry (Rose) Schiesser, York, PA, and Don (Dorothy) Schiesser, Allen, KS, and sister; Dianne (Lyle) Mann, Allen, KS, many nieces and nephews, and longtime friend, Julie Lenderman, Aiken, SC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Sam, and sister, Anita Cavanaugh.
Cremation is planned. Graveside inurnment services will be Monday, July 17, at 11:00 A.M. at the Allen Cemetery, Allen, KS. The service will be conducted by Pastor Mark Stukey, Allen, Kansas. Military Honors will be provided by a detail from the United States Army, Fort Riley, KS.
