Dennis Wayne Stout

August 3, 1949 — June 21, 2024

Allen

Dennis Wayne Stout of Allen died on Friday, June 21, 2024, at his home.  He was 74.

Dennis was born on August 3, 1949, in Emporia, Kansas, the son of Wayne E. and Dorothy Watkins Stout.  He was married briefly but later divorced.

He is survived by his nieces and nephews: Shannon Holloway, Kim Wolfe, Jay Giger, Jamie Giger, their children, and many beloved cousins.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, a brother David Stout, sister Virginia Giger, and brother-in-law Kenneth Giger.

After Dennis graduated from high school, he served in the United States Marine Corps from 1967 to 1969 during the Vietnam Era.  He later went to work for Dolly Madison in 1978 to 2003 and retired as a Production Supervisor.  In his spare time, he served in several mission fields both at home and abroad, especially enjoying his time in Mexico.  He preached in several nearby churches, filling in with various congregations from time to time.  He visited Israel and had a fondness for the country and its people.  When DNA tests showed he had Jewish ancestry, he was overjoyed.  He loved the Lord and spoke often of his hope in Heaven and being reunited with his friends and loved ones.

One of his greatest accomplishments was pursuing his pilot’s license and learning to fly.  He greatly enjoyed flying whenever possible.  He also loved practicing martial arts and studied that in the 1990’s.

Dennis loved genealogy and Kansas history – especially that around Lyon County.  He could talk at great length with anyone about those interests.  He enjoyed researching politics, military history, and religious studies as well.  He was an avid reader, a baker, and had a great, though quiet, sense of humor.

He was a faithful, steadfast son who helped take care of both of his parents in their later years.  He loved helping friends and family whenever possible and could always be counted on to volunteer or donate to a good cause.  He cared a great deal about his family and loved and appreciated his friends in and around Allen.  Above all, Denis was a generous and upstanding man.
