Denzel Claudine Mason

Our precious mom, grandma, nana took Gods hand and went home Weds May 1, 2019.

She was born Nov. 6, 1925 in Piedmont, Ks. To the proud parents of Gernie Glenn and Gertrude Irene Blevins – Dixon. Family called her Den, friends called her Dee.

She loved her brothers and sisters Wayne, Homer (Bud), Barbara (Sis), Bill, Don, Gernie (Gail), Betty, Carole and baby Lois.

She attended grade school in Severy, Ks and graduated from Piedmont High School in 1943. She then attended Ks. Normal School and received her teaching certificate. Returning to Greenwood County to teach 1 ^st - 8 ^th grades at Union school.

Den met her husband Jr. Mason on a blind date that her best friend set up. They married in 1946. Den became a wonderful homemaker and mom. Terry, Judy & Allan made the family whole.

She became City Clerk of Eureka, Ks. around 1965. The family moved to Emporia, Ks. in 1968 where she worked for Citizens National Bank and Dolly Madison in accounting. Her education continued at Emporia State University where she received her Masters degree in accounting in 1975. Also being inducted into the National Honor Society. She taught outreach classes for Butler County Comm. College in accounting and started her accounting/tax service.

Tracy Chavez, Travis Mason, Shannon Evans, Josh Mason, Jamie Mason and Casey Mason call her grandma and she was so very proud of this title.

Alexandria& Isayah Chavez, Aspen Mason and Logan Mason call her Nana, these great grand kids were the cherry on top of everything.

Den was very interested in the history of her Irish/Welsh heritage. She constantly researched the Blevins/Dixon family history and acquired volumes of information. She loved making Christmas cookies for her family. With her specialties being Skillet cookies and Oatmeal Crispies. The teacher in her never left, she continued to log everything that she did.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her siblings Wayne, Bud, Sis, Bill, Betty, Don, Gail and baby Lois. And great grand babies Landon & Zoey Mason.

She is survived by her kids Terry (Laurel) Mason/Lakeside, Or. , Judy (Jim) Edwards/ Emporia, Ks., Allan (Diane) Mason /Olathe, Ks. Grandkids Tracy (Arnold) Chavez/Emporia, Ks., Travis Mason/Olathe, Ks. , Shannon (Kyle) Evans/ Littleton, Co., Casey Mason/Overland Pk., Ks., Josh Mason/ Belchertown, Ma., James (Tammy) Mason/Virginia Beach, Va., her sister Carole (Dennis) Neal/Wichita, Ks. Great grandkids Alex, Isayah, Aspen and Logan and many nieces and nephews.

A Life Celebration will be held at 11am Saturday May 11 ^th , 1 ^st Church of the Nazarene, 2931 W. 24 ^th Ave., Emporia, Ks. Memorial donations may be made to Kansas Crippled Children's Association.
