Donald Morris Boyce, age 87, of rural Emporia, passed away from this life at his home Thursday, July 27, 2017.
Don was born in Emporia, Kansas on November 7, 1929, the son of Marvin and Thelma (Richard) Boyce. He married Mona Patricia Sue Hanifan on August 8, 1953. They were married just short of 63 years until her passing last year.
Don attended Rosean Rural School and graduated from Emporia High School. He was a lifetime farmer and stockman, maintaining a small dairy and hog operation in his earlier years. Don, together with his brother, Glenn received a Merit Award for outstanding accomplishments in Resource Conservation and Don also received a KBA Soil Conservation Award. In addition, Don was President for many years of the Allen Creek Watershed Joint Board District #89. Don was a loving husband and father of eight children.
Surviving family members include his children; Mike Boyce, and wife, Connie, of Emporia, Tamla Price, and husband, Bruce of Reading, Pam Carter and husband, Dan, of Emporia, Randy Boyce and wife, Brenda, of Emporia, Ed Boyce and wife, Arnetta, of Admire, Ron Boyce of Allen, Tony Boyce and wife, Ann, of Paola, and Jerry Boyce and wife, Paula, of Henderson, NV. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters, Lola Farr and Marcia Gaurd both of Emporia, and Maxine Wieland of Topeka, and a brother, Glenn Boyce, Emporia.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and a sister, Helen Thill.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. The service will be conducted by Pastor Rob Clausen, First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Rosean Cemetery, North of Emporia.
The family will receive friends the hour before the service at the funeral home.
