Donald C. Krueger, 66, of Emporia, Kansas, died Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

Don was born on December 20, 1945 in Emporia, the son of Charles William, Sr. and Rita Mary Kuhlmann Krueger.

He is survived by: his life partner, Debra O’Connor of the home; and her children, Jarod O’Connor of Buckeye, Arizona, and Shannon Presti and husband Sam, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; brothers, Ronald F. Krueger of Alexandria, Virginia, Larry Krueger of Bentley, Kansas, and Carl Krueger of Olpe, Kansas; and sisters, Beth Peterson of Kansas City, Missouri, and Rita McFadden of Lawrence, Kansas.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles W. (Bill) Krueger, Jr., and James (Jim) Krueger.

Don graduated from Olpe High School in 1963, and received his Bachelor of Arts in Geography from Emporia State University. Don proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1968 - 1972 and was commissioned as a Staff Sergeant. He began his military service at Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino, California and completed his duties in Goosebay, Labrador as a Medical Corpsman.

Don practiced as a criminal defense and civil attorney in Emporia for thirty-seven years after his graduation from Washburn Law School in 1975. He was a member of the the Lyon/Chase Counties Bar Association, Kansas State Bar Association, Kansas Trial Lawyers Association, and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Don was passionate about helping others through his generosity and kind heart. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Cremation is planned. Don's life will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 A.M., Saturday, October 6, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olpe, Kansas. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Olpe, with military honors by Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion and Lowry-Funston Post #1980 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Don C. Krueger Good Samaritan Scholarship Fund or the H. Dale Buck Fund.
