Donna Mae Proehl, 86 of Emporia, Kansas died Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor.
Donna Mae the daughter of Fred and Marie (Nielsen) Johnson was born December 23, 1929 at the family home north east of Americus, Kansas.
Donna worked many years as a Nurse’s Aide in pediatrics at Newman Regional Health. She enjoyed cooking, listening to her family play music and the outdoors.
Donna married Wayne Proehl on March 25, 1951 in Americus, Kansas. He survives. Other survivors include sons Randall Proehl and wife Gayla of Emporia, Roger Proehl and wife Angela of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jon Proehl and wife Kelli of Emporia, daughters Lesta Vergouven and husband Ben of Kansas City, Kansas, Joyce England and husband Rick of Wichita, Kansas, Martha Brooks and husband Gary of Emporia, sister Gladys Myers of Americus, Kansas, 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Edgar Johnson.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia. Betty Brown, lay Pastor at Americus Presbyterian Church will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
