Doris Lucene Hunter, 93, Emporia, Kansas, died Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Flint Hills Care Center, Emporia.

Doris Lucene Drummond was born at Elmdale, Kansas on April 1, 1918, the daughter of William L. and Mable E. Beach Drummond. She married Everett E. Hunter at the parsonage of Grace United Methodist Church, Emporia, on March 1, 1953. Everett died March 29, 2009.

Surviving family members include her sister, Martha Bugbee, Emporia; a niece; and two grand nephews.

Doris was a homemaker, and before her marriage worked at the Hughes–Todd Jewelry Store.

She is a member of Grace United Methodist Church, and United Methodist Women. Over 50 year member, Miriam Chapter #14, Order of Eastern Star, The National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees, AARP, and a Pinochle Club.

Funeral Services will be held in the chapel of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Monday, September 12, 2011 at 2:00 PM. The service will be conducted by Pastor Susan Daniel–Brey, Grace United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia.
