Dorothea Grace Mitchell, 82, of Emporia, Kansas, died Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Newman Regional Health, Emporia.
Dorothea Grace Bush was born December 3, 1931 in Emporia, the daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Helene Montina (Pickett) Bush. Her father died when she was very young and she was raised by her mother and stepfather, Paul Pickett.
Dorothea married Robert Edward Myers and they later divorced. She then married Ralph Dean Mitchell. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by: sons, Tom Myers, Lafe (Monte) Myers and Paul Myers, all of Emporia, Bob Mitchell of Elmdale, Kansas; stepsons, Chuck Mitchell of Hays, Kansas and Kenny Mitchell of Arvada, Colorado; brother, Dwight Bush of Emporia; grandchildren, Robert W. Myers of Bern, Kansas, Megan Myers of Cave Springs, Arkansas, Shawn Myers of Fargo, North Dakota, Cheryl Cattin of Manhattan, Kansas, Nathan Myers and Alicia Myers, both of Emporia, Mateus Mitchell and Melayna Mitchell of Elmdale, Charity Hulse and Jason Mitchell of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Amber Klementson and Amy Lough of Arvada, Colorado, Kelen Dane of Denver, Colorado, Danielle Mitchell of Arvada, Colorado, Jesse McDougal of Gardner, Kansas, Christine Harkins of Leavenworth, Kansas, Jesse Voiers of Emporia, Heather Wagoner of Wichita, Kansas, and Jessica Mitchell. Dorothea also had numerous wonderful great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Edward Jay Myers; and daughter, Doris Louise Myers.
Dorothea was a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting and needle point, making many baby blankets.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. Pastor Leonard Wagner of the Church of God of Prophecy in Emporia will be officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. Friday, January 24, 2014 at the funeral home. Cremation is planned following the service.
