Dorothy M. Boyce, aged 93, of Emporia, Kansas, passed away on April 11, 2025. Born on July 28, 1931, in Emporia, Kansas, to Gerald W. and Alice (Reider) Jones, Dorothy spent her early years in her hometown, attending grade school and high school there. She furthered her education at Hutch Community College and Emporia State University, eventually earning a Masters Degree in Medical Records from Kansas University.

In 1953, Dorothy married Lloyd E. Schmidt in Greensburg, Kansas, and they were blessed with two children, Terry Lynn and Sandra Kay. Dorothy's professional career was marked by her dedicated service at Newman Memorial Hospital, where she worked as the Director of Medical Records and Medical Staff Secretary for 21 years, known for her meticulous and efficient management.

In 1975, Dorothy married Glenn D. Boyce, and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in March 2025. Dorothy cherished her life on the farm, taking pride in maintaining a beautifully manicured farmstead and enjoying her time on her John Deere tractor mower. She was an avid gardener, cook, and quilter, always keeping herself busy with projects and her beloved pets.

After retiring from farming in 2003, Dorothy and Glenn moved to Emporia. Dorothy was an active member of the First Christian Church in Emporia, serving in various roles including chairperson for the Trustees, a deacon, and a member of both the chime and vocal choirs. She was also involved in the women's fellowship and was a member of the Flint Hills Quilt Guild of Emporia.

Preceded in death by her parents, brother Edward, son Terry, and great-grandson Bobby Joe Bullard, Dorothy is survived by her loving husband Glenn; daughter Sandy Parrack; daughter-in-law Joan Gabbert; grandchildren Jennifer (Michael) Palmer and their children William Bullard, Coby, and Cory Palmer; Andrew (Kiley) Schmidt; Anna (Justin) Linhardt and their children Josie, Morgan, and Rosalind; Joseph (Brea) Schmidt and their children Tatum, Maria, and Frank; and Rachel Schmidt.

A memorial service will be held on April 15, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at the First Christian Church of Emporia, where family and friends will gather to celebrate Dorothy's life and legacy.
