Dorothy May Robinson, 91, Wichita, and formerly of Emporia, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.
Dorothy May Schuhs was born on the family farm on Rural Route 1, Hartford, Ks on August 2, 1926, the daughter of Stephen (Sr.) and Neva (McVey) Schuhs. She attended the Presbyterian Church and summer bible school in the Elmendaro community and attended grade school at Harmony District 82 School near the family farm. She graduated from Lamont High School in 1944.
She married J Bliss “JB” Robinson on November 22, 1953 in Emporia. He passed away on April 22, 2009. Together they operated Robinson Ambulance Service in Emporia, providing emergency services, hospital transfers, funeral coaches, hospital equipment, and disability assistance equipment. They retired in 1975 and traveled in their RV for a year. After that they were employed by the Fred Harvey Co. in Death Valley, CA. from 1976 to 1997. In 1997 they moved to Grove, OK, then in 2004 to Derby. After her husband’s death she moved to Wichita to be near family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, 4 brothers: Theodore, Forrest, Stephen, Jr. and Joseph “Bud” Schuhs, and 2 sisters; Josephine “Mary Jo” Lynch and Martha Whitehurst-Morrison.
Survivors include her son; E.J. “Butch” Storrer, and his wife Suzie (Ace), daughter; Wanda Storrer, Sister; Nellie Booth, two grandchildren; Misty D. Storrer and Kelsey L. Storrer and a great-grandson; Joel Elliott.
A service will be conducted on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at 1:30 P.M. at the Patio Garden of Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The service will be conducted by Pastor Earl Detwiler. Interment will follow.
