Dorothy M. Spade

Dorothy M. Spade, 94, of rural Reading died on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Newman Regional Health, Emporia.

Dorothy was born on February 27, 1923 in Emporia, Kansas the daughter of David Luther and Katherine Edwards Rees. She married Grayson M. Spade on July 20, 1952 in Emporia, Kansas. He died on September 28, 2011 at his home in Reading.

Survivors include: son, Milton (Bobbi Godfrey) Spade of Reading; daughters, Linda (David) Orear of Emporia, Kansas, and Kay (Harold) Huston of Billings, Montana; grandchildren, Tyler and Tyson (Ashley) Orear of Allen, Kansas, Laura Huston (Steve) Winkeler Newburgh, Indiana, and Rhysa (Nick) Sisco of Gilbert, Arizona; great-grandson Virgil Orear; brother, Trevor Rees of Emporia; and a sister Evelyn Rees of Cottonwood Falls, Kansas

She is preceded in death by her husband, brothers Emlyn Rees and Everett Rees.

Dorothy was a homemaker and bookkeeper. She was active in numerous community and civic organizations.

Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the Admire Cemetery, Admire. Visitation will be Monday night from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. The family request no flowers with memorial contributions to Admire Methodist Church or Sardis Congregational Church can be sent in care of the funeral home.
