Dorothy Jean Woods

Dorothy Jean Roggli Woods of Emporia, Kansas died Friday, January 4, 2013 at Emporia Presbyterian Manor. She was 92.

The daughter of Carl Frederick and Esther Glaus Roggli, Dorothy was born on July 1, 1920 in Decherd, Tennessee. She graduated from Franklin County High School, Decherd; Oklahoma College for Women, Chickasha, Oklahoma; and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tennessee.

Mrs. Woods was a longtime teacher. She taught at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia; Oklahoma State University in Stillwater; Southern Illinois University in Carbondale; the University of Nebraska in Lincoln; and Roosevelt High School/Emporia State.

She married Harold O. Woods in 1947 in Knoxville. They moved to Emporia in 1949.

She is survived by her children, Fred and Tricia Campbell Woods of Colville, Washington; Neal Woods of San Jose, California; and Mark and Mary Kay Phillips Woods of Ottawa, Kansas; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Dorothy was a member of the First Christian Church in Emporia, and a member of PEO Chapter GT.

Cremation is planned, with a memorial service to be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at the First Christian Church, Emporia. The service will be conducted by Reverend Bob Colerick of the church. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia.
