Dorris Vivian Barnett, Emporia, Kansas, died Friday, November 12, 2010 at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor. She was 96.
  
  
  Dorris Vivian Reid was born at Carrollton, Missouri on July 20, 1914, the daughter of S.B. and Alcy Ann (Tomlin) Reid. She married William F. Hirsch on October 6, 1935 at Jefferson City, Missouri. He died in Mesa, Arizona January 13, 1978. She later married Harry W. Barnett in Emporia, Kansas on October 11, 1982. He died January 8, 1984.
  
  
  Surviving family members include: Son, James H. Barnett and his wife, Peggy, of Fort Collins, Colorado; Grandson, Bradley Barnett, Seattle, Washington; Granddaughter, Lindsay Barnett, Kansas City, Missouri; Nephews, Randall Key and wife, Rose, of Boulder, Colorado; James H. Key, Kansas City, Missouri
  
  
  She was preceded in death by her husbands, and a sister, Evelyn Key.
  
  
  Mrs. Barnett was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Church Circle, Review Study Club, Emporia Friends of the Zoo, Friends of the Arts, and the Emporia State University President’s Club, all in Emporia, Kansas
  
  
  Dorris was a graduate of Chillicothe (Missouri) Business College. She was a civil service employee working as a legal assistant for twenty years.
  
  
  Cremation is planned.
  
  
  Memorial Services will be held in the C.D. Long Chapel of the First United Methodist Church, Emporia, on Friday, November 19, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. The service will be conducted by Pastor Nancy Gammill of the church. Inurnment will be in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia.
  
  
  Memorial is with First United Methodist Church, Emporia, Kansas; contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
