The Reverend Doctor Michael L. Moore, 72, Emporia, Kansas, passed away in his wife’s arms on Friday, February 22, 2019 at the Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center, Topeka.

Michael L. Moore was born in Lawrence, Kansas on January 12, 1947, the son of Joseph Leroy and Laura Helen Lorene (Clark) Moore. He married Iona V. Murray on July 22, 1982 in Topeka, Kansas.  She survives of the home.

Surviving family members include his wife, sons; Gerald Lamont Miller (Melissa), Emporia, and Michael Paul Fulton (Nana), Alexandria, LA, James Fulton, Topeka, KS Daughters; Christine McCollough, Emporia, and Brenda Sik, Murrieta, CA, and Diane Fulton, Topeka, KS also a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. His sister, Sally Simmons, died earlier.

Pastor Moore started his Christian mission at the Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, Topeka, KS under Dr. W. L. Templeton. He was at the Mount Carmel Church Outreach Center for many years. He touched many lives through Jesus Christ leading him. Pastor Moore attended the Central Baptist Seminary College and Western Baptist Bible College, where he earned his Masters and Doctorate Degrees. He was called to Pastor Saint James Missionary Baptist Church, Emporia in 1994 and was still serving as Pastor and teacher. He was the Vice Moderator of the Smoky Hill District of the Missionary Baptist Church and was Dean of Western Baptist Bible College, teaching in Topeka, Junction City, and Wichita. Prior to entering the ministry he was employed with Farmland Industries in Lawrence and was a veterans of the United States Army, serving in Vietnam.

He loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He loved people, children, and the community of Emporia.

Rest in Peace with Jesus. You were loved by all of us. Now you are with Jesus, who loved you the most.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church, Emporia. The service will be led by Rev. Dr. Larry E. Jones, Moderator of the Smoky Hill District, and Pastor of Second Missionary Baptist Church, Junction City, KS. A graveside service will be held at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Lawrence, Kansas on Friday, March 8 at 1:00 P.M. conducted by Rev. Larry D. Williams, Gospel Preacher, Life Church, with Military graveside services conducted by a United States Army Honor Detail, Fort Riley, Kansas.

The family will receive friends at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 6:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

A memorial has been established with Saint James Missionary Baptist Church with contributions sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box #175, Emporia, Ks 66801.
