The funeral services for Edna A. Long will be held at First Baptist Church, Emporia, on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. The service will be conducted by Pastor Rob Clausen of the church. Interment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia. The family will receive friends at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, from 5:30 P.M. until 6:30 PM on Monday, March 25, 2013.
Mrs. Long passed away Friday afternoon, March 22, 2013 at Altera Sterling House, Emporia, at the age of 79.
Edna A. Spillman was born at Emporia on March 25, 1933, the daughter of William and Marjorie (Brown) Spillman. She married Carl Dean Long at Emporia on June 3, 1951. He died May 19, 2010.
She is survived by a daughter, Gloria Cross, Enid, Oklahoma; two sons, Dale Long, and his wife, Beverly, Emporia, and Steven Long, and his wife, Debbie, Tribune, Kansas; a brother, James Spillman, Eureka; and sisters, Peggy Stice, Emporia, Mary Ann Place, Maude, Texas, and Judy Magerl, Pomona, Kansas; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, and a grandson, Timothy Meadows.
Mrs. Long was a school bus driver for the Pratt and Emporia school districts. She had attended Cottonwood Friends Church and was a member of Miriam Chapter #14, Order of the Eastern Star, and Model Boosters 4-H Club, where she had been a cooking and sewing leader.
A memorial has been established for Sterling House, with contributions sent in care of the funeral home.
