Edward Charles “Monk” Barnett, 78, of Emporia died on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Holiday Resort Care Center, Emporia.
Monk was born on August 3, 1938 in Emporia, Kansas the son of Charles and Hazel Anderson Barnett. He married Sharon Moss on September 10, 1960 in Emporia. She survives.
Surviving family members include: wife, Sharon Barnett of Emporia; son, Michael Barnett of Emporia; daughters, Brooke Richard and Kelly Barnett both of Emporia; sister, Carol Hellen of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandchildren Drew, Dack, Riley, Breckin Barnett, and Baylee Richard; great-granddaughter Nora Barnett.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother Jerry Barnett.
Monk owned and operated Barnett Tank and Steel in Emporia for many years. He served in the United States Navy.
