Edwin “Ed” L. Wood, 75, formerly of Americus died on Friday, July 31, 2015 at the St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.
Ed was born on May 13, 1940; the son of Glen and Irene Owings Wood. He married Donna Brooks on July 1, 1966 in Emporia. She survives.
Other survivors include: sister, June Casteel of Pollock, Missouri, and Carolyn Parcel of Unionville, Missouri; two half-sisters; two half-brothers; two stepsisters; five stepbrothers; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Shirley Niles.
Ed worked for Didde’s for over 30 years and was then a school bus driver for USD 253 for 10 years. He served in the United States Air Force and was a member of Ball-McColm Post #5 American Legion; he also belonged to the HAMM radio club.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. Visitation will be Monday evening from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment with military honors by Ball-McColm Post #5 American Legion and Lowry Funston Post # 1980, Veterans of Foreign Wars, will be at Americus Cemetery, Americus, Kansas.
