Eileen Thornton of Emporia died on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at her home in rural Hartford. She was 88.
Eileen was born on February 26, 1936, in Emporia, Kansas, the daughter of Howard and Della Johns Cannon. She married Noble Thornton on May 24, 1957, in Emporia, Kansas. He died on April 27, 2016, in Topeka.
Surviving family members include her son Bill (Debra) Thornton of Hartford; daughters, Dee (Gary) Wolf of Emporia, and Stacey (Darrell Stephens) Thornton of Olpe; grandchildren, Jessica (Shawn) Alexander, Ty (Stacy) Wolf, Niki Wolf, and Brody (Lexie) Herrick; great-grandchildren, Alex Alexander, Emma Alexander, Daven Wolf, Colten Wolf, and Tristin Alexander.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Imogene Arnett, and her brothers Kenneth Cannon and Don Cannon.
Eileen was a homemaker. She was a member of the Hartford United Methodist Church, Hartford United Methodist Women, Prairie Hens Homemakers Extension Unit, Flint Hills Regional Quilt Guild and Sigma Sigma Sigma.
Cremation has taken place with Graveside services at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 24, 2024, at Chicago Mound Cemetery southeast of Emporia.
