Eleanor Louise Blaufuss

Eleanor Louise Brinkman Blaufuss of Olpe died Friday, August 13, 2010, at Overland Park Memorial Hospital in Overland Park, Kansas. She was 91. In recent years she had resided with her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Eleanor and Gary Baugh in Lenexa, KS.

She was born September 29, 1918, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Theodore and Nellie Walker Brinkman. She grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1940 she earned a BA in English from Mount St. Scholastic College in Atchison, Kansas.

She married William Francis Blaufuss on June 24, 1940, in Topeka, Kansas. He died February 17, 1999. They had eight children. They lived on their farm near Hartford, Kansas until 1985 when she and her husband of 58 years moved to Olpe.
Mrs. Blaufuss was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Anne Altar Society, The Quilting Corner, Flying Needles and The Colonial Dames. She was a past member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Hartford and The Happy Homemaker Extension Unit.

Survivors include seven of her children and their spouses, William F., Jr. (Mary Ann) of Nashville, TN. Mary Eleanor (Gary L.) Baugh of Lenexa, James T. (Marilyn) of Lenexa, Kathleen A. (Kenneth F.) Scheve of Shawnee, Thomas M. (Joyce) of Overland Park, Patricia A. (Michael L. ) Dunn of Lenexa and Margaret M. (Dennis J.) Katzer of Ottawa. She was preceded in death by one son John A. Blaufuss. His wife Dorothy of Olpe survives. Eleanor is also survived by 29 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. An infant great grandson, Ty Barnhart died earlier.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Church in Olpe with the Rev. Anthony Williams conducting the service. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday at the church. The family will greet visitors both before and after the rosary. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Olpe.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Joseph Catholic Church of Olpe, St. Mary Catholic Church of Hartford or Catholic Charities Foundation of Northeastern Kansas.
