Eleanor M. Finlay, Emporia, formerly of Meade, Kansas, passed away Friday, February 5, 2016 at Newman Regional Health, Emporia, at the age of 93.
Eleanor M. Thomas was born May 4, 1922, the daughter of Arthur and Lurrie Ray (Minter) Thomas. She married Everett Forest Finlay in Sweetwater, Texas in 1948. He died March 9, 1976.
Mrs. Finlay is survived by her daughter, Rhnae Blackburn, and her husband, Warner; three grandsons, Jason (Megan), Brent (Erin), and Tyson (Karen) Blackburn; and five great-grandchildren, Mattie, Sullivan, Maxwell, Hayden, and Taylor Blackburn.
Her husband, parents, two brothers, and one sister died earlier.
She was an active member of Twelfth Avenue Baptist Church, Emporia.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 10:30 AM at the Twelfth Avenue Baptist Church, Emporia. The service will be conducted by Rev. Al Areheart of the church, and Rev. Chester Morris, Church of the New Covenant. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. at the Graceland Cemetery, Meade, Kansas.
The family will receive friends Monday evening, February 8, 2016 from 7:00 PM until 8:00 P.M. at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia.
