Elfrieda M. (Borell) Timbrook, 88, Emporia, died at Holiday Resort, Emporia, Tuesday, November 4, 2014.
Elfrieda M. Borell was born at Wilson, Kansas on May 1, 1926 the daughter of George H. and Amelia (Becker) Borell. She married William Kenneth “Kenny” Timbrook at Emporia, Kansas on December 25, 1947. Kenny died June 10, 2013.
Surviving family members include her daughters, Carolyn (David) Meierhoff, Emporia, and Kathi (Wes) Noe, Wetmore, Kansas; grandchildren, Susan Meierhoff, Lisa Meierhoff, Laurie (Chad) Kurzen, Jay (Kay) Smith, Benjamin Smith, Andrea (Ronald) Lagos, Analyssa Noe, Amelia Noe, and Alayna Noe; and great-grandchildren, Justin Wilson, Kinzie Kurzen, Jaiden Kurzen, and Samuel Lagos. There are also numerous nieces and nephews in the Kansas City Area and California.
She was preceded in death by brother, Melvin Borell, as well as her parents, and stepmother, Georgina Borell.
Elfrieda was a member of Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church, Emporia, American Business Women’s Association, American Association of University Women, American Legion Auxiliary, Bluestem Swingers Square Dance Club, and various bowling teams.
She had worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell, secretary at the American Legion, and an accountant at Newman Department Store. She retired as a switchboard operator at Newman Regional Health.
Funeral services will be in the chapel of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. The service will be conducted by Pastor Bob Colerick, First Christian Church. Interment will follow in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia.
The family requests no flowers. Memorials have been established for Hand In Hand Hospice and the Memory Walk of Holiday Resort. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
