Elizabeth Mary Bechtel, 105, Olpe, Kansas, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Holiday Resort Care Center, Emporia, Kansas.

Elizabeth Mary Brown was born at Olpe on January 20, 1908, the daughter of Nicholas and Elizabeth (Trear) Brown. She married William L. Bechtel at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Olpe, on April 24, 1935. He died December 15, 1996 at Olpe.

Mrs. Bechtel was a homemaker. She was the oldest living member of the Saint Joseph Catholic Church and was a member of the Saint Ann’s Altar Society of the church. She was a charter member of the Happy Homemakers Home Demonstration Unit.

Surviving family members include sons, Harry Bechtel, Olpe, Carl Bechtel, Emporia, and Norbert Bechtel, Hutchinson, Kansas; daughters, Arlene Schneider, Lakewood, Colorado, and Dorothy Bechtel-Parker, Grapevine, Texas; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, William; brothers, John, George, and Lou Brown; sister, Barbara Siebenaler; and granddaughter, Lori Sanchez.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, May 6, 2013 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Olpe, with Father John Cortes, Celebrant. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Olpe.

The Rosary will be recited at the church Sunday evening, May 5, 2013 at 7:00 P.M.
