Elizabeth Trear Conrade, Emporia, Kansas, died Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Fredonia Regional Hospital, Fredonia, Kansas, at the age of 90.
Elizabeth Trear was born April 8, 1925 on the family farm northeast of Madison, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph Simon and Anna C. (Keine) Trear. She attended Maydale School, rural Olpe. After graduation she helped on the farm of her parents. The farm where she was born and raised was homesteaded by her paternal grandparents and has always been owned by the Trears.
She worked at Red X Pharmacy, and at Hallmark Cards as an inspector, both in Emporia. Later she worked part-time at the Olpe Chicken House. She had been a member of Maydale and Sacred Heart Catholic Churches.
She married Edward B. Conrade on May 30, 1955 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia. After marriage they moved to a farm west of Olpe where they resided until 1991, at which time they moved to Emporia. She was a resident of the Flint Hills Care Center since October of 2009.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years; her daughter Mary Jo Whitmore, Madison; and her son, Gary (Valerie) Conrade, Olpe; one grandson, Joshua (Lindsay) Whitmore; and three great-grandchildren, Trenna, Cade, and Hadley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Anthony and Joseph Trear; sister, Rose Matson; and one son, John, who died July 7, 2009.
Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. The service will be conducted by Father Tom Dolezal, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, south of Emporia.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening, May 4, 2015 from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M.
The family requests no flowers. Memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or Sacred Heart Catholic Church (Emporia) may be sent in care of the funeral home.
