Elizabeth Jean Geraghty

Elizabeth Jean Geraghty, Emporia, passed away at Holiday Resort Care Center, Emporia on Monday, August 24, 2020 at the age of 83.

Private family services will be held at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Olpe, with inurnment in the Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Olpe.  There will be no viewing.

Elizabeth Jean Haag was born July 19, 1937 in Olpe, the daughter of John and Irma (Striegel) Haag.  She married Patrick Geraghty in Emporia in 1979, he passed away in 2011.  Surviving family members include sons; Craig T. Smith and Duane Smith, Emporia, and daughter; Kimberly (Scott) Icenhower, Sugar Land, TX, brother; Richard Haag, Emporia, and Brother Michael Haag, OFM, Arizona, sisters; Phyllis Wilson, Marilyn Allen, and Wilma Flattery, all of Wichita, and Carol Hurley, Dallas, Texas, grandchildren; Asher Icenhower, Georgetown, TX, Brian Icenhower, Rosenberg, TX, and Shaun Smith, Emporia, KS.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and brothers; Irving Haag, Robert Haag, John Wayne Haag, and Don Haag, sisters; Joan LaCour, Maraget Gennette, and Anita Haley-Burenheide.

Mrs. Geraghty was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Emporia.  She was a homemaker and worked for a short time in the maternity department of Newman Memorial County Hospital.  Mrs. Geraghty travelled with her husband’s job and lived in many states.  She was also a lover of nature and an excellent baker of anything sweet.
