Ellin Lee Hamilton, 94, formerly of Emporia, Kansas, passed away Monday, November 28, 2011 at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor in Lawrence, Kansas.
Ellin L. Gallaher the daughter of John and Carrie Schmalshof Gallaher was born in Shinn, Illinois. She married Barrett Alfred Hamilton on May 14, 1941 in Corning, Kansas. He preceded her in death on November 28, 1995.
Survivors include three sons, Rex Hamilton of Lawrence, John Hamilton of Springfield, Missouri and Phillip Hamilton of Concord, California; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, a stepbrother, a sister; and a stepsister.
Ellin was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church, Miriam Chapter #14 Order of the Eastern Star, Women’s Kansas Day Club, General Federation of Women’s Club, and Lyon County Republican Women.
Private graveside services will be held at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia. The family will have a reception in Ellin’s memory at First United Methodist Church from noon until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2011.
