Emelia Rangel, 89, Emporia, Kansas, died Friday, October 8, 2010, at the Holiday Resort Care Center, Emporia, Kansas.
Emelia Luna was born in Emporia, Kansas on May 30, 1921, the daughter of Epitacio and Felipa Avaloz Luna. She married John Rangel August 22, 1942, in Emporia, Kansas. He died November 3, 1982, in Emporia.
Surviving family members include four Sons: Richard Rangel of Santa Fe Springs, California; Edward Rangel of Liberal, Kansas; Phillip Rangel of Emporia, Kansas; and Michael Rangel of Nixa, Missouri.
Five Daughters: Gloria Mendoza, Vicky Lopez, Lena Harwood, Rose Rodriguez, and Louise Rodriguez, all of Emporia, Kansas. Brothers: Pete Luna, Saint Paul, Minnesota; and Joe Luna, Colton, California. Sisters: Mary Silva, Emporia, Kansas; Patricia Charles, and Connie Espinosa, both in Saint Paul, Minnesota. There are also thirty-seven Grandchildren, fifty-eight Great-Grandchildren, and eight Great-Great-Grandchildren.
Mrs. Rangel was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son, Raymond, who died in 1949; a brother and a sister.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. with Father Richard Warsnak, Celebrant. Interment will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Emporia.
The Rosary will be recited at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM
