Emiko (Inoue) Risley, Emporia, Kansas, died November 19, 2023. She was 92 years old.
Emiko was born on August 20, 1931, in Kanagawaken Fujisawa City, Japan, the daughter of Sannosuke and Aki (Uno) Inoue.
Survivors include son Kevin (Carolyn) Risley, Emporia, KS; daughter Tammy (Jason) Montgomery, North Pole, AK; sister Matsue Nishio, Japan; grandchildren Bryson Risley, Haley Risley, Hana Risley, Kyla McClellan, Kadon McClellan, Hudson McClellan; and great grandchildren Isaiah McClellan, Emiko McClellan and Raya Risley.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, three sisters, husband Larry and son Michael.
Emiko attended the Fujisawa girls’ high school and graduated in 1949. She then attended dress making school. She taught calligraphy from 1951-1954 in Japan, and later taught at the Atsugi Navy Exchange PX.
She married Larry Grant Risley in Tokyo, Japan, on December 27, 1962. They came to the United States on October of 1963.
Cremation is planned. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at the Patio Garden at Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery, at 2:00 P.M.
