Eric Dee Pedersen

Eric D. Pedersen, 60, a lifelong resident of Emporia, Kansas, died Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at KU Medical Center. Cremation has taken place.

Eric Dee Pedersen, the son of Elmer and Deloris Johnson Pedersen, was born March 24, 1959 in Emporia. He married Susan M. Hulse on July 11, 1981 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Emporia.

Eric is survived by, his wife, Susan Pedersen of the home; a daughter, Kaitlin Pedersen; a son, Jon Pedersen; two brothers, Don (Chris) Pedersen; Rodney Pedersen and a sister Penny (Bob) Phillips, all of Emporia. Two brothers-in-law, Gary Robinson and Phillip Hoskins, both of Emporia, also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Judith Robinson and Barbara Hoskins.

As a child, Eric was a member of the Rinker 4-H Club and participated in many 4-H activities. He graduated from Emporia State University with a degree in Music Merchandising and played trombone in the ESU Jazz Workshop. Eric, along with his brother Rod, worked the family farm. He worked in the Ag department at Bluestem Farm and Ranch Supply for 16 years. He was a school bus driver for the Emporia School District until he retired in 2014. He operated Eric’s Piano Tuning, tuning and repairing pianos in Emporia and the surrounding area. He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and one of the first members to be baptized when the current church building was dedicated in 1961.

Eric’s family will meet with friends from 9:30 A.M. until the memorial service which will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 13, 2019 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. Pastor Peter Rehwaldt of the church will officiate. Internment will be at Rosean Cemetery, north of Emporia.
