Erma J. Piper, 85, formerly of Americus, Kansas, died Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Flint Hills Care Center, Emporia.

Erma Jean Miller, the daughter of Curtis and Frances Viles Miller, was born on August 8, 1929 in Americus. She married Wallace Piper on August 12, 1948 in Emporia. He died August 28, 1988.

She is survived by: two sons, Bruce Piper of Osage City, Kansas and Terry Piper of Americus; two sisters, Darlene Huerter of Seneca, Kansas and Kay Clayton of Woonsocket, South Dakota; three grandchildren, Carly Piper, Casey Piper, and Jarrod Piper; two step-grandchildren, Robert Baysinger and Mark Baysinger; seven great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Erma worked for the Dolly Madison Cake Company, Crawford Furniture Company and was a CNA at Emporia Presbyterian Manor before retiring. She attended Americus United Methodist Church.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 13, 2014 at Dunlap Cemetery. Pastor Pat Buss of Americus United Methodist church will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia.
