Esther Mae DeRemer, 92, of Emporia, Kansas, died on September 14, 2014 at Emporia Presbyterian Manor.
  
  
  Esther was born on February 25, 1922 in Emporia, the daughter of Taylor Joab and Catherine Violet Thompson Kemp. She married Wilbur G. DeRemer on February 19, 1943 in Emporia. He died on October 26, 1997 in Emporia.
  
  
  Esther is survived by: her sons, Tommy (Joanna) DeRemer of Sidmouth, England, Mike (Jeanette) DeRemer of Pratt, Kansas, and Mark (Jan) DeRemer of Scottsboro, Alabama; daughter, Mary (Keith) Hurt of Camarillo, California; eleven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.
  
  
  She is preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, and six sisters.
  
  
  Esther worked for Woolworth’s, Woolco, and later Walmart. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Emporia. Esther was the head of the church nursery for 38 years, and was also a member of the Parliament Club, and the Ladies Church Circle, both at the church.
  
  
  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, Emporia. Burial will follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia. The visitation will be Wednesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia.
  
  
  The family requests no flowers, but instead suggests memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church Youth Ministries be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
