Esther Louise Taber, 88, of Emporia, Kansas, died on Monday, September 2, 2013 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.
  
  
  Esther was born on December 18, 1924 in Forsythe, Missouri, the daughter of John Wesley “Blackie” and Margaret Josephine Brown Smith. She married Roy Taber on August 29, 1946 in Lyndon, Kansas. He died on December 29, 1992 in Reading, Kansas.
  
  
  Surviving family members include her sons, Wesley Taber of Emporia, Paul Taber and wife Vicky of Reading and Jim Taber of Emporia; daughter, Kay Perry and husband Bernie of Emporia; sister, Camilla Barnett-Inman of North Las Vegas, Nevada; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
  
  
  She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
  
  
  Esther worked at Laundry Land as an attendant for several years. She attended Cornerstone Baptist Church in Emporia, and was active in with the Salvation Army.
  
  
  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 6, 2013 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. Pastor James Scott of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Emporia will be officiating. Burial will take place at Phillips Cemetery, Reading, Kansas.
  
  
  The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. A memorial will be designated at a later date.
