Eunice N. Hotzel, 79, joined her favorite dance partner, Jim, and the Lord on March 2, 2014.
  
  
  She was born on August 17, 1934 in Emporia, Kansas, the daughter of Harvey E. and Leota (Stonebraker) Swint. She was a graduate of Emporia High School, where she met her high school sweetheart, James L. Hotzel. They were married on February 5, 1955 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
  
  
  She is survived by her daughter, Debra (Joseph) Cichon of Lenexa, Kansas; daughter-in-law, Robin Hotzel of Emporia; three grandchildren, Christopher J. (Amanda) Cichon of Lenexa, Valerie A. (Ryan) Custer of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Caitlin Hotzel; and three great- grandchildren, Emily Custer, Lily Custer, and Kaelini Cichon.
  
  
  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Jim; her son, J. Eric Hotzel; grandson, Lucas Jeh Hotzel; her parents, Harvey and Leota Swint; brother, Everette Swint; and sister, Marlene Swint Dohmer.
  
  
  Eunice worked at Hallmark Cards, Crawford Furniture, and later became a bookkeeper for Modern Air Conditioning, George Groh & Sons, and Emporia Construction & Remodeling before retiring in 1997 to travel with her husband Jim. They loved the beaches of Hawaii and the Gulf Coast, trout fishing on Taneycomo, and in her younger years, water skiing on Table Rock Lake.
  
  
  She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, as well as VFW Post #1980 Auxiliary, American Legion Post #5 Auxiliary, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary.
  
  
  
  
  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 15, 2014, 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia, followed by inurnment at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Father Ray May of Didde Catholic Campus Center will celebrate the Mass.
  
  
  The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beta Sigma Phi Heart Fund, Wounded Warriors or the USO, and sent in care of the funeral home.
